Letters to King George

Task: Write a letter or powerpoint to the King of England (King George III) explaining how the results of the French and Indian war has angered the colonists and led to them considering a revolution.


Structure for your letter or PowerPoint:

1) Background of the war - how it started

2) Timeline of the war - major events

3) Results of the war - what did British do? why were colonists angry?

Homework # 2 - Drawing the Color Line

Read Chapter 2 of Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States". The Chaper is called "Drawing the Color Line" and is about how slavery got started in the United States.

On the First page, Zinn says "Everything in the experience of the first white settlers acted as a pressure for the enslavement of blacks." Why were slaves so important to the development of the American Colonies? Why did the colonists turn to the importation of African slaves?
